1 Corinthians 1:30 “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” NKJV

For the last several weeks, we have been focusing on the verse above. Everything that we need in life has been provided by the mighty work of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we know what He has done for us and receive, by faith, this verse; it becomes a living reality to us.

This week, we are going to focus on the word redemption. Redemption means “to buy out, especially of purchasing a slave with a view to free someone”. You see, before we came to Jesus and received His salvation we were all a slave to sin. The Scripture is very clear concerning this matter. Let’s look at a couple verses to see our condition before redemption. Jesus said in John 8:34 “…whoever commits sin is a slave to sin.” Also, in Ephesians 2:1 it states, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” Our previous life, without Christ, was a life of bondage. We were a slave to sin and satanic oppression. In our Lord’s redemption, He came and bought us out of our lives of bondage. The outcome of His purchase is found in John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” If anyone knows the Lord and truly believes what He has done, then that person is in a blessed place.

In closing, we are to declare our redemption for in Psalms 107:2 it states, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” Let’s believe it and declare it so we can live in the reality of it!

God Bless!
