Colossians 1:18 “And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent.” English Standard Version
Colossians 1:18 “Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything.” New Living Translation
One of the first lessons that every Christian must learn is Jesus Christ is preeminent. In all aspects of life, Jesus Christ must hold the first place in what we do and who we are. God set up prayer so we can seek Him and find His will in what we encounter. The sooner we learn what Jesus spoke to us in the gospel of John 15:5 “…for without Me you can do nothing” the better our lives become.
When Jesus enters our lives through the new birth, He comes to be the leader of our lives. He came to be preeminent in our life. I have heard it said that there are things we should not pray about. They are meaning whatever presents itself in our lives, we should decide what to do. We are not meant to be preeminent. Only Jesus, the preeminent One, knows everything we encounter in life. I want to encourage you today to look to Jesus for the answers that you need to live your life to the fullest. He is very close to all of us (Acts 17:27) and He is only a prayer away! We can all, including myself (I also must be reminded because I have made decisions without God’s counsel), to live close to Jesus, the preeminent One.
